Part 10

Paul headed into the kitchen and found Wil just standing there leaning against the bench. When he saw Paul enter he quickly made his way to the fridge, acting like he was looking for drinks.

Whats going on Wil?

Wil closed the fridge door and turned to look at Paul.

What do you mean?

Dont play innocent with me Wil. I know you remember. Come on spill it, whats going on with you and Rove?

I dont know what youre talking about Paul. I only got here about twenty minutes ago.

Paul knew that Wil wasnt being honest with him. He somehow knew that there was something going on between Wil and Rove, he just had a feeling in his gut, but he also wondered just how he was going to get Wil to admit it.

Corinne sat on the couch in the lounge room, flicking through the stations on the television but not really paying attention to anything that was on. A few minutes later Rove re-emerged from the bedroom, now dressed in black pants and a light blue shirt. He walked over and sat down next to Corinne on the couch.

You been deserted?

Yeah Paul and Wil are in the kitchen having a chat.

Corinne could have sworn that Rove looked a bit worried when she said that.

You okay?

Rove smiled at her.

Oh yeah Im fine. Are you?

What do you mean?

I dont know. When you left this afternoon it just seemed like something was wrong. You dont regret what happened do you?

Corinne shook her head.

Of course not. Come on lets go see what the other two are up to.

Corinne got to her feet and quickly headed towards the kitchen. Rove knew that there was still something she wasnt telling him, and he was determined to find out what it was before the night was over.

So theres nothing going on with you and Rove?

Were friends Paul, nothing more. What about you and Corinne?

What are you talking about?

Wil smiled.

Im not blind either Paul. I saw the way you two were looking at each other when you came in here. Youve got the look of love mate.

Corinne and I are just friends, nothing more to it than that.

Paul hoped that Wil believed him, but it was obvious from the look on his face that he didnt. That made Paul even more determined to figure out just exactly what was going on with Wil and Rove. He was about to question Wil about it again when Rove and Corinne came into the kitchen and interrupted them.

Rove saw Paul and Wil standing there obviously in discussion with each other and he shot a nervous glance at Wil. Wil gave him a quick reassuring nod that didnt go unnoticed by either Paul or Corinne. Rove then addressed them all.

Ready to go?

Paul nodded.

Yep definitely. Lets go.

The four of them headed out of the kitchen and then out of the apartment, all four of them with a few things on their mind.
