Part 7
The two of them sat at one of the picnic tables together, eating their pizza in silence and occasionally glancing at each other or looking out towards the ocean. Both of their minds were thinking about the fact that this was their last night together for a while, and both of their minds thinking about a lot of other things as well.
Finished?
Wil nodded and threw a crust into the now empty box. Paul picked it up and went to throw it into the rubbish bin before returning to Wil. He didnt sit back down; instead he extended a hand and smiled.
Almost sunset.
Wil smiled back and took Pauls hand, and together they walked across the grass and down the stairs onto the beach. They found a nice spot up the end of the beach near the rocks, where no other people were around. Wil sat down and Paul sat between his legs, leaning back against his chest with Wils arms wrapped around him.
Paul lay back comfortably in Wils embrace and let his hands rest on Wils knees as they sat together in silence just staring at the beautiful sight in front of them. The perfect white sand stretched as far as the eye could see as the waves crashed lightly onto the shore, the sun starting to set over the horizon. Paul sighed.
Beautiful isnt it?
Wil nodded.
Amazing.
Paul sighed again and let his head fall back against Wils shoulder. Hed sat on this same beach and watched the sunset so many times since hed been living here, but he was still amazed at the absolute perfection of it.
Wil let his head rest on top of Pauls as his arms wrapped tighter around him, pulling him closer. He sighed as he stared out at the sunset over the water, amazed at the beauty of it, amazed at how perfect this moment was. He was with the man he loved, staring out at the most beautiful view hed ever seen. A single tear slid down his cheek and he lifted a hand to wipe it away.
Paul lifted his head and turned to look up at Wil.
You okay?
Wil nodded.
Im fine.
But Paul knew better, getting up to his feet. Wil watched him quizzically but Paul didnt say a word, he simply walked around behind Wil and sat down again. He moved his legs apart a fraction and placed his hands gently on Wils shoulders. Wil smiled and lay down, the back of his head against Pauls stomach and his arms on his thighs.
Paul smiled and turned his gaze back to the perfect sunset, his hands resting on Wils chest and feeling the steady beating of his heart beneath his fingertips. Paul sighed.
Could things be more perfect?
Wil knew Paul didnt realise hed spoken those words aloud, so he didnt respond. But in his mind he knew the answer, things could be more perfect if Paul were staying in Sydney and not disappearing to Melbourne for two weeks.
Wil still hated himself for having such selfish thoughts, and he knew he couldnt tell Paul how he was feeling. Of course he understood that Paul needed to get away for a while, but Wil couldnt help the niggling thought in the back of his mind that perhaps in a way he was trying to get away from Wil for a while as well.
I love you Paul.
He knew that Paul didnt need to hear it again, but Wil needed to say it. He knew he loved this man with all his heart, loved him more than anything else in the world. Wil smiled to himself, deciding that tonight he was going to make sure Paul knew just how much. Then maybe, just maybe, Paul might reconsider leaving him.
I love you too.
Wil sighed happily; knowing he could never grow tired of hearing Paul say those words to him. They lay together quietly on the sand as the sun finally disappeared over the horizon. It was Paul who finally broke the silence.
I could stay with you like this forever.
Wil let his hands wander up and down Pauls bare calf muscles, stroking him softly. He sighed.
I know what you mean.
Paul couldnt help moaning softly as he felt Wils hands on his bare skin, and the fact that Wils head was dangerously close to his groin wasnt helping matters either.
Wil lets go back to the apartment.
Wil continued the movements of his hands, sliding his body down a bit so that his head was resting directly against Pauls groin.
Why?
Without waiting for a response, Wil rolled over onto his stomach and then lowered his head, letting his mouth brush against the growing bulge through Pauls shorts. Wil lifted his head and smiled as he felt Paul stifle a groan. Paul then stared at Wil and raised an eyebrow
Because otherwise youre going to end up with sand is some very uncomfortable places.
Deciding that Paul had a good point, Wil jumped to his feet and he extended a hand. Paul took it and Wil helped him up and together they walked back up the beach, heading towards their apartment.
