Part 2

Paul heard the front door slam closed behind Wil and he just stood there in the kitchen trying to register what had just happened. He'd noticed Wil acting a bit strangely lately, but he figured it just had something to do with his break-up with his girlfriend.

For a while now he'd definitely known that something was up, but after what had just happened he also now knew that Wil's odd behavior lately definitely had something do with him. He'd seen the looks Wil was giving him, and there was no hiding the feelings of want that had been clearly evident in Wil's eyes.

He'd long held a certain desire for Wil, he'd always wondered whether anything could happen between the two of them. But they'd known each other for a long time and were good friends, and Paul had never wanted to jeopardize it by telling Wil how he really felt.

He wanted desperately to walk out that front door and find Wil, to talk to him and find out just where their relationship stood. But he was still afraid, afraid that if he told Wil the truth that he'd be rejected, just as he had been too many times in the past. With a quiet sigh Paul grabbed a cold drink from the fridge and headed into his studio.

Wil strode out of the cool surf and wandered back to where his towel lay on the beach. He put on his sunglasses and stretched out on his back, his hands behind his head, looking up at the perfect blue sky.

His mind wandered back to Paul, not that he was out of his thoughts for very long lately. He didn't know when his feelings for Paul changed, perhaps deep down he'd always held feelings of desire for Paul, in some ways always loved him. But he'd been too protective of their friendship to risk jeopardizing it by acting on his feelings.

Since he and Paul had been living together things had been harder. Occasions where Paul would walk around the apartment in his tight blue jeans without a shirt made Wil want to take him right then and there. Or the time when Wil had accidentally walked in on Paul in the shower and been left with an image that would be forever burned in his memory, not that it was a bad image.

Wil knew that Paul was attracted to him, he'd made no secret of that, but Wil didn't know if that was just Paul's flirty ways or if it was something more serious. Lying on that beach he made the decision that he just had to know the truth; he had to know whether Paul was feeling the same way he was.

Wil picked up his towel and headed back up the beach back towards their apartment, ready to face up to the truth.
