Part 1

The sun was blazing that day… the day that he finally cracked.
His eyes were glazed over and blood shot from a night dominated by drinking and crying. Not that he'd ever admit it. His hands were shaking, sweat was traveling at high speeds down his face as he ran. His breathing was heavy and it was all he could hear other than the sound of his feet pounding on the side walk. He rushed past people who stared after him curiously. Some shouted obscenities at him as his arms came in contact with them but he didn't hear them… he didn't want to.

The exposed parts of his body were scratched and bruised from running through the bushes that he passed through and unconsciously he could feel the blood trickling down his forehead from when he fell and hit the concrete.

He wasn't thinking anymore. He was getting to his point of destination without even paying attention to where he was going. He burst through the doors of a nice house in the suburbs. It was a beautiful 3 bedroom split level with a garden full of wonderous growth and the most amazing flowers. One of his closest friends lived here and had spent many an afternoon working on creating the fantastic display of organised nature.

He was feeling weak yet a strange strength took over him. His head was spinning and fogged yet a clarity that he had never experienced before. He bounded up the small set of stairs located and crashed through the door where the person he was looking for had situated himself to watch an old love boat repeat.

"Paul… what are you doing" he shouted as Paul leapt towards him.

His name was the last words that passed through the lips of the limp body that was slumped over the couch. He didn't care that his hands had made his way around the throat of one of his most cherished friends. The feeling of his thumbs pressing into his windpipe and cutting off circulation. He didn't break eye contact the entire time… Not once did he even remotely release his grip to think that what he had been doing was wrong.

He stepped back and studied the figure that he had just drained every ounce of life from and smiled contently to himself. He made his way towards the door in which he had entered with great force but stopped to look once more at the man who lay motionless.
