Part 13

The second night went off, another sold out audience. At the end of the show, Paul decided to join them for another song. This time they sung 'I'll be there for you', originally sung by the Rembrandts.

Belinda was sitting in the audience watching the whole show, trying to pick up on the vibes between Rove and Wil. Now that she knew there was something going on between them, she could pick it up quite easily, especially during the song.

As the audience screamed out for more, begging Wil and Rove to return to the stage, someone else came on instead.

"So no one told you life gonna be this way, your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's DOA" Sung Paul, microphone in hand.

The audience cheered.

"Bring on Wil!" Someone screamed.

Wil returned to the stage. He was also holding a microphone.

"It's like you're always stuck in second gear and it hasn't been your day, your week, your month or even your year, but"

And then Rove returned to the stage as well, joining the other two to sing the chorus.

"I'll be there for you
When the rain starts to pour
I'll be there for you
Like I've been there before
I'll be there for you
'Cause you're there for me too..."

Wil and Rove walked towards the back of the stage and started humming. They hadn't bothered to learn the rest of the lyrics so Paul sung the rest of the song, minus the chorus, without them.

"Your still in bed at ten and work begins at eight, you burned your breakfast so far things are going great, your mother warned you there be days like these, but she didn't tell you when the world was brought down to your knees"

"I'll be there for you
When the rain starts to pour
I'll be there for you
Like I've been there before
I'll be there for you
'Cause you're there for me too..."

"No one could ever know me, no one could ever see me, seems your the only one who knows, what it's like to be me Some one to face the day with, make it through all the mess with, someone I'll always laugh with, even at my worst, my best with you, yeah.
It's like you're always stuck in second gear and it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year, but"

"I'll be there for you
When the rain starts to pour
I'll be there for you
Like I've been there before
I'll be there for you
'Cause you're there for me too..."

At the end of the song, the audience cheered and while Wil and Rove ran off the stage, Paul decided to do something the audience wasn't expecting by jumping off the stage and running into the crowd. He found a young girl a few rows down and sat on her lap. Little did he know it was Candy from the previous night. Paul lent down and was millimetres from her lips but quickly jerked his head back and away from the girl, running back to the stage.

"Thank you, and goodnight!" He yelled into he microphone before running off the stage.

Backstage, Wil and Rove patted him on the back when he walked past them.

"Good word again, mate." Rove congratulated him.

"Thanks, you weren't too bad yourself." Paul said in return. "Where Rinnie?"

"She's just stepped out to have a smoke."

"Oh okay, I might join her then."

"Wait up, we'll come with you too. We can go out for some drinks afterwards, we didn't get to last night." Rove suggested.

"But what about Belinda? Wasn't she in the audience tonight?" Paul asked, being careful not to tread on any toes because he knew about Rove's relationship with Wil.

"Crap." Rove swore. "Well I guess now is a good a time as any to tell her it's off, tell her how I really feel about Wil."

"Good luck, I'll be waiting outside with Corinne." Paul said.

"I suppose I'd better come with you then hey Rove?" Wil asked.

Rove nodded and wrapped his arms around Wil and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. He let go and held Wil's hand in his own. They walked back to Rove's change room where they knew Belinda would be waiting.

Rove opened the door and looked inside. His assumption was correct and he found Belinda sitting in his chair. He pulled Wil inside the room with him.

Belinda looked up as the door opened and Rove walked in.

"Rove where.."

Belinda stopped talking as she saw Wil come into the room with Rove. She looked down to see the two of them holding hands and slowly got to her feet.

"So you finally come to admit it, have you?"

Rove quickly glanced at Wil and then turned back to Belinda. He opened his mouth to speak but she cut him off.

"I saw you two in the car the today Rove. So how long has this been going on?"

Rove sighed.

"Does it really matter?"

"Yes it fucking well matters to me Rove! I find out the man I love is screwing another man behind my back and you think it doesn't matter?"

Rove let go of Wil's hand and took a step forward, placing his hand on Belinda's shoulder to try and calm her down.

"Belinda please.."

"Don't touch me Rove! Now that I know where that hand has been.."

She didn't finish that sentence; she just glared at Wil. Rove saw the look and he moved back to stand next to his new lover.

"Don't you dare badmouth Wil. This has got nothing to do with him."

"Of course it does! This bastard is the reason you don't want to marry me isn't he?"

Rove felt the anger building inside his body. He never thought he could feel such anger towards Belinda, but he couldn't bear to hear her talk about his Wil that way.

"You really want the truth?"

"Yes Rove, just for once tell me the truth!"

"He's not the reason I don't want to marry you Belinda. I don't want to marry you because I don't love you. I'm sorry but it's the truth. Wil has brought me more pleasure in the last week than you have bought me in the entire four years we've been together. I love him Belinda; I love him more than life itself. I'm sorry that you had to get hurt, but I can't help the way I feel."

As Rove finished he felt a hand squeeze his own and he turned to look at Wil. Wil was smiling broadly at him, and Rove wrapped his arms around Wil, pulling him close for a kiss. Wil responded eagerly, sliding his tongue into Rove's mouth and kissing him passionately, well aware that Belinda was watching every second of it.

Belinda's eyes burned into Wil's skin until finally she decided she had to do something to stop them. She ran up to tear them apart but Wil slapped her away. Her next step would hopefully work. She had hidden a knife in a drawer in the room but hoped it wouldn't have to come to that. Unfortunately it did. Belinda reached for the knife and started to lunge at Rove. Wil saw what she was going to try to do so he had to think quickly. He pulled away from Rove and pushed him through the door, slamming it behind them. This didn't stop Belinda though and soon enough she started to open the door.

"Run!" Wil yelled at Rove.

He did exactly what his lover told him to do and headed straight for the closest exit, followed very closely by Wil who was only a few metres in front of Belinda.

Rove ran straight out onto Swanston Street, directly into an oncoming tram.

Wil stopped dead in his tracks, yelling out Rove's name in terror. Corinne and Paul looked over to see what all the commotion was about and when realising what had happened, they rushed over to try to help, dropping their cigarettes on the sidewalk.

Despite Rove's lifeless body in the middle of Swanston Street, Belinda just wouldn't give up. She still had the knife in hand and ran towards Wil.
