Part 3
Rhys had his eyes fixed firmly on Amanda and Wil, who seemed engaged in a pretty deep conversation with each other. But the way Amanda kept sneaking glances in Rhy’s direction it was pretty obvious, well to Paul at least, that she was trying to make him jealous.
Paul thought back to all the times that he’d thought Amanda was staring at him and it dawned on him that he was with Rhys all those times. Amanda must have thought that something was going on between him and Rhys, so she was using Wil to make Rhys jealous.
“Hey Rhys.. Rhys!”
“Sorry what?”
Paul had to yell to shake Rhys out of his trance. An idea on how to solve this little dilemma had come to him and he just hoped it worked.
“You want to dance?”
Paul said it loudly enough so that Amanda could hear, and she turned her attention to them. Rhys looked at Amanda and then back to Paul, smiling as he realized what Paul was up to.
“Sure I’d love to.”
Paul stood and held out his hand, which Rhys took, and he led him out onto the dance floor. As if on cue, a slower song began to play. Paul moved closer to Rhys, whispering to him.
“Trust me. She’s trying to make you jealous, so it’s time for you to do the same thing.”
Rhys grinned at Paul, stepped close to him so their bodies were almost touching. Paul placed his hands on Rhy’s hips and smiled. Rhys responded, wrapping his arms around Paul’s neck as they began to move slowly together to the music.
Rhys looked over at Amanda, she had her eyes fixed squarely on him and Paul, and Rhys smiled to himself. He felt kind of bad about doing this, but she was doing the same thing to him. He wanted desperately to just walk right up and tell her how he felt, but he just couldn’t build up the courage.
“You really like her huh?”
At the sound of Paul’s voice Rhys turned back to look at him. He nodded.
“Yeah I do. Just wish I could tell her.”
“Well here’s your chance.”
Paul gestured and Rhys turned around, seeing Amanda standing next to them. She gave Rhys a shy smile that he found absolutely adorable. He’d never seen Amanda act shy before, it was sweet.
“Mind if I cut in?”
Rhys smiled back at her.
“Not at all.”
Paul smiled as the two of them drifted off, Rhys pulling Amanda close to him and she rested her head on his chest as they danced. When the song ended they wandered back to the table alone to talk.
“Got stood up Paul?”
Paul turned around to see Wil standing behind him.
“So did you by the looks of it.”
“I knew what she was doing. Just glad those two finally admitted it to each other. You want to dance?”
Paul was about to reply when another voice interrupted.
“Hey Wil you promised me your first dance!”
Rove ran over, literally jumping on Wil, and they both started to laugh.
“Not dancing until you buy me a drink gorgeous.”
“You got it.”
They were still laughing as they made their way to the bar. Paul was about to leave the dance floor when he heard a familiar female voice behind him.
