Part 7
It had been 2 weeks since we heard Julie and we honestly thought she had given up. No calls, no visits... we never mentioned her name again, steph was making sure she stayed extra close to me and Mum and Dad decided it would be best to drive me to, and pick me up from school for a while. I wasnt complaining about that because i hated the bus, like most others do.
Eventually they stopped being so cautious... we thought she had gone for good. I was taking the bus to school and back with Steph, meeting her outside her class as usual. I didnt care that the others teased me for caring so much about my sister. I had my guitar now and was taking lessons so i practiced during breaks. Steph would sit with me and listen, sing with me. Sometimes we had a group of people sitting with us listening. I didnt need anyone else, as long as i had my family.
It was friday afternoon, about a month after my birthday and the school bell had just rang to indicate it was time again, to go home. I made my way down to Stephs class and waited. The others in her class filed out of the room as they always did and Steph always lagged behind. But this time she didnt. I walked into her class room and was about to ask Mrs. Hailes what happened..
"Randy what are you doing here? I thought you and Stephanie went home with your aunt?"
"Aunt Sharon came in?"
"No honey not Sharon... She said she was going get Stephanie and you during lunch and not to expect her in class. She didnt find you?"
"No... no she must have missed me and gone home. Mrs. Hailes? Did she tell you her name?"
"Yes Randy, she said she wanted to surprise you both. But since she missed you, it was Julie i think she said."
Everything at that moment went black. I couldnt hear, i could barely see. Mrs. Hailes was saying something, asking if i was alright... I felt the blood drain from my face, and i hit the floor.
