Part 6
The phone rang, waking Rove from his light slumber. Rolling off the couch he walked over to answer it.
"Hello?"
"Hey Rove, it's Wil."
"Hey mate. How's it going?"
"Good. Listen I'm back in Melbourne for the weekend and thought you might want to get together. What are you doing tonight?"
"No plans."
"Great. How does dinner sound?"
"Sounds good. Hey you want me to invite Paul and Corinne? Paul's in town at the moment too."
"Yep sounds good. I'll come round to your place about 7 okay?"
"Great, see you then."
Rove hung up the phone with a smile on his face. It had been a while since he'd seen Wil, and he was looking forward to catching up with him again. He wandered into the bedroom and sat down on the edge of the bed. Corinne's eyes fluttered open and she looked up at him and smiled.
"Hey."
"Hey. Sleep well?"
"Hmm, sweet dreams."
Rove laughed.
"I just got a phone call from Wil. How does dinner tonight sound?"
"That sounds nice. Paul coming too?"
"Hopefully. I'll ask him when he comes back."
"So he's not back yet?"
Rove shook his head, then a devilish glint appeared in his eye and he smiled. He leant down, brushing his lips over Corinne's. When she didn't respond to him he pulled back, a look of confusion on his face.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing really, I'm just tired still. If we're going out for dinner I'd better go home and shower and change."
Rove nodded, but he was wondering why she was suddenly so eager to avoid him. Corinne slid out of bed and began to gather up her clothes. When she was redressed, she leant down and kissed Rove lightly on the lips.
"See you in a couple of hours."
"Okay bye."
When she had left, Rove stayed there on the bed for a moment. His thoughts drifted back to Corinne and Paul, and the encounter they had shared together. He was now wondering whether it had all been a big mistake. There was obviously something bothering Corinne now, maybe she was having regrets about it as well. Either way Rove knew that their relationships had now been changed, he just didn't know if it was for the better or worse.
