Part 7
Corinne headed out of Rove's apartment and ran smack bang into Paul he was walking up the steps. They both stopped neither of them speaking. Corinne stared at her feet, almost afraid to look into Paul's eyes, now fearing what emotions she might see there. Paul spoke, breaking the silence.
"Hey, where are you running off to?"
Corinne forced herself to look up at him.
"I'm going home to shower and get changed. Wil's in town, we're all going to go to dinner tonight. You free?"
"Yep sure. Sounds good."
"Okay well Rove knows more than I do, you should probably go talk to him. I'll see you tonight."
Corinne went to leave as quickly as she could, but Paul lightly grabbed her arm. She stopped, half facing him, looking at the ground again.
"Corinne."
The tone of his voice forced her to look up. Once again she saw that look of love and desire in his eyes, and once again she didn't know what to do. Apparently Paul did. His arms went around her and he pulled her close, leaning down and kissing her tenderly. The feeling of his soft lips against hers was too much to resist. She slid her arms around his neck and responded to the kiss, and by the time they broke apart they were both breathless.
Corinne looked at him, his beautiful face, soulful eyes, and soft sweet lips. At that moment she knew she loved him, but she still had too many thoughts and emotions running through her head, and she couldn't face up to it at the moment.
"I'm sorry, I have to go."
She turned and took off down the street, knowing that Paul was standing there watching her as she left. With a sad sigh he walked up and knocked on Rove's door. Rove opened it with a smile.
"Hey Pauly, glad you're back."
"Hey Rove."
"You okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine."
Rove took one look at Paul and knew that he was far from fine, but he decided not to push it. First Corinne and now Paul, the more time went on the more he wished that their little sexual encounter had never happened in the first place. He decided to try not to think about it.
"Wil called me before. You up for dinner tonight?"
Paul nodded.
"Yep I ran into Corinne outside, she told me about it. What time?"
"He's coming around about 7."
Paul looked at his watch.
"Shit I'd better go back to the hotel and shower and change I guess. I'll be back in an hour or so okay?"
"Alright see you then."
Paul disappeared out the door, leaving Rove once again alone with his thoughts. And at the moment that really wasn't something that Rove wanted to be left alone with.
