Part 9

Paul and Corinne barely managed to keep their hands off each other the whole way to Rove’s place, but figured the taxi driver wouldn’t appreciate them going at it in the back of his cab. Paul paid him and then stepped out, walking up the steps towards Rove’s front door.

“Paul wait.”

Paul stopped and turned around.

“What?”

“What are we going to tell them?”

“Why do we have to tell them anything?”

“Paul they’re two of our best friends, how can we not tell them?”

Paul walked back to the bottom of the stairs, placing a hand on Corinne’s shoulder. He smiled at her.

“We’ll tell them I promise, just not now. I just want you to myself for a while before we go telling people, can you understand that?”

Corinne sighed.

“Yeah I guess. But does this mean I have to keep my hands off you all night?”

Paul leant in close to her, his hot breath against her ear causing Corinne to shiver. He sucked lightly on her earlobe and then whispered softly.

“Not all night.”

Paul turned and went to knock on Rove’s door, Corinne taking a few moments to compose herself before she joined him. The door opened and they were greeted with Wil’s smiling face.

“Hey guys!”

“Hey Wil!”

Wil hugged them both in turn as they made their way into the apartment.

”So what are you doing in Melbourne Wil?”

“I could ask you the same question Paul. Just homesick I guess, and I was on break from the station so I thought I’d get away for a couple of weeks. What about you?”

“Needed to get out of Sydney for a while.”

Wil nodded, understanding what Paul was referring to but knowing better than to say it. Corinne looked around.

“Where’s Rove?”

“He’s in the shower, shouldn’t be too long. Then we can all go.”

Corinne raised an eyebrow.

“Didn’t he already have a shower before?”

Paul looked at Corinne and he smiled at her, remembering just why Rove had needed a shower in the first place. It was then that another idea came to Paul and he quickly looked at Wil.

“What? I don’t know I guess he needed another one.”

Paul could have sworn that Wil was blushing, but he couldn’t push the issue further because at that moment Rove emerged from the bathroom, just a towel around his waist.

“Hey guys, I’ll just get dressed then we can go alright?”

Wil nodded.

“Yep no problem. You guys want a drink while you’re waiting?”

Wil headed towards the kitchen as Rove disappeared into the bedroom. Paul and Corinne looked at both of them and then at each other, the same idea now in both of their minds. Paul flashed her a knowing smile and turned and headed into the kitchen to have a little chat with Wil. Corinne sat on the couch, flicking on the television and resisting the urge to follow him and eavesdrop.
