Part 20

"Hi Kate." Wil greeted his ex as she joined him at the table. He didn't bother standing up to help her to her seat - he only did that sort of thing when they were seeing each other.

"Wil." She said, nodding to greet him.

"So, what did you want to talk about?"

"I just wanted to catch up, see how things were going, maybe even come see your show."

"Well, aside from the fact that it's all sold out, we might end up cancelling some of the shows because Rove's in hospital. You did know I was doing a show with him and not a solo show, didn't you?"

"Oh really? No I didn't know. Why is Rove in hospital?"

"I'd rather not give the whole story, but he was hit by a tram."

"Oh mythat's, well, not good to say the least."

"No I know."

Kate looked at Wil with a concerned look on her face.

"Is he going to be alright?"

"Yeah he's in pretty bad shape, it'll take him a few months to heal. But the doctor seems to think he'll be alright."

Wil sighed, hoping Kate wouldn't ask any more questions about Rove. It wasn't a subject Wil really wanted to be discussing with her of all people. He certainly wasn't going to tell her he and Rove were involved.

"Well give him my best."

"I will. So seriously Kate, what's going on? I know there's something more to this than just a friendly catch-up chat."

Kate sighed.

"You're right Wil, there is more to it. There's something I have to tell you. Can we go back to my hotel?"

"I don't think that's a good idea."

"Please Wil, it's important."

Wil looked at Kate's face for a moment, seeing the seriousness there and knowing whatever she was going to tell him had to be big.

"Alright."

They went outside and caught a taxi back to Kate's hotel. Wil looked at his watch, wondering how long this would take. He wanted to be back at Rove's side, where Rove needed him, where he belonged.

Wil followed Kate up to the room and she unlocked the door, allowing him to enter first. Wil took one look around and immediately knew the reason Kate had brought him up here. The lights were off, the curtains drawn, the only light coming from candles scattered around the room and the two small lamps on the tables next to the bed.

"Kate.."

Wil went to speak but as soon as he turned around she had her body pressed up against his. Her arms slid around his neck as her lips found his. For a brief moment he responded, unable to resist the power that she'd held over him since they'd first got together. But as soon as the image of Rove popped into his mind he quickly pulled away.

"Kate no, I'm not getting into this with you again."

Kate ignored him, her hands unbuttoning the top two buttons of his shirt. Her hand slipped inside, rubbing against the bare skin of his chest. Wil pulled away again, taking a few steps back.

"Kate I don't want this."

"If you didn't want it you would have already left."

Wil was momentarily distracted, thinking about whether or not she was right. Kate seized the opportunity to move closer to him again, and she quickly undid his trousers, slipping her hand inside and clutching his growing cock.

"Fuck, that's it, I have to get out of here."

Wil pushed past her and headed towards the door, trying to do up his trousers as he went. If he stayed in the room for one more minute he knew that he might not be able to resist giving in to temptation. Rove was the one he loved and the only one he wanted to be with, and he wasn't going to cheat on him, he'd never forgive himself.

The door was open and Wil was halfway through it when Kate said four words that made Wil stop dead in his tracks.

"Wil you're a father."
