Part 2
They arrived at the nightclub and were immediately let in. Considering that all of them were well-known faces it shouldn’t have surprised them. Paul walked in at the back of the group again, still not sure why exactly he came but figuring it might be a bit of fun.
The group of them made their way to a couple of booths towards the back of the nightclub. It didn’t take long for a few of them to drift off to the dance floor or to the bar. Paul, Rhys, Amanda, Wil, Rove, Corinne and Mark were left sitting at the table.
“Hey Corinne you want to dance?”
Corinne smiled at Rove.
“Sure thing darling.”
Rove grinned back at Corinne, offering her his hand and leading her out onto the dance floor. Paul watched them for a moment and then turned back to the table, catching Amanda staring in his direction once more. He went to speak but she cut him off.
“Wil you want to dance?”
“Sure I’d love to.”
Paul watched the two of them leave the table, knowing that Amanda was running away from him. He really wanted to know what was going on, why she kept staring at him like that. He wonder if she might be having feelings for him, but they’d known each other for a long time and she’d never said anything.
“Earth to Paul!”
Paul shook himself from his thoughts and turned to Rhys.
“Sorry what?”
“You alright? You zoned out there for a minute.”
“Yeah I’m fine.”
Mark got to his feet, turning back to Paul and Rhys.
“You guys want a drink?”
Paul nodded.
“Yeah a bourbon would be great thanks.”
“Rhys?”
”Same thanks.”
“No problem. Be back in a few minutes.”
Mark took off leaving Paul and Rhys seated at the table. It wasn’t long before a couple of young women dressed in rather tight outfits walked up to them.
“You guys want to dance?”
Paul looked over to the dance floor. Rove, Corinne, Wil, Amanda, Tanya and Kim were all dancing. He swore that he’d seen Amanda staring in his direction yet again but decided not to think about it at the moment. But he knew he had to talk to her later.
“Coming Paul?”
Rhys had stood up and grabbed the arm of one of the girls, and the other was looking towards Paul.
“Yeah sure.”
The young dark-haired woman giving him the eyes smiled as Paul got to his feet.
It wasn't long before the attention of everyone on the dance floor was focused on Paul and his young dance companion. It wasn’t often that Paul actually got a chance to cut loose at clubs like this and he was enjoying it. His partner soon found it hard to keep up with him and she left the dance floor.
But Paul kept on dancing, and the other clubbers, particularly a few of his friends, were enchanted with him. It was a long time before Paul made his way back to the booth, greeted with the smiles of his friends.
“Nice dancing Pauly. Never knew you could move like that.”
Paul smiled at Corinne as he sat down.
"Well you never asked did you."
Paul relaxed back in his seat, looking around at his friends. Mark, Anthony, Kim and Tanya were all still either out on the dance floor or at the bar. Corinne, Rove, Amanda and Wil were all back at the table and engaged in discussions with each other. Rhys was sitting there quietly just staring at his glass.
“Thanks for the drink Rhys.”
Rhys didn’t look up.
“No problem.”
The two of them sat in silence sipping their drinks. Paul snuck a glance over at Rhys and saw him staring at someone across the table, a clear look of jealousy on his face. Paul followed his gaze, wondering whom he was staring at.
