Part 1
In a time when witches were hunted, life was simple and every being had something to fear, a young girl cried in pain as a tiny babe was being pushed into the world.
The thunders clapped loudly and rain pelted with tremendous force upon the roof of their small home. Her wailing could be heard from miles around, the intense atmosphere could have been sliced with a blade. In the distance, a pack of wolves could he heard howling into the rain as the small child took its first breath of air and her mother took her last.
Elizabeth grew with great speed over the following years, living as the daughter of her grandparents and being non-the wiser. Her mother had been but 12 years old when she had been come forth into the world. Her grandparents loved her as their own, the towns people believed that she belonged to them and that their daughter Bethany had been attacked by the wolves that lived a little way into the forest. She had been told of her mothers death from a very early age and the towns people loved her greatly, warning her not to venture out into the forest alone in fear that she too might be attacked.
It was a chilled morning, some 10 years later. Her parents, as she knew them, had allowed her to stay home whilst they attended to some exchanging of goods with in the town. Of course, Elizabeth seemed to believe that her parents did not know what was best for her and enjoyed roaming the forest during the day, eating wild berries and spending hours in a place that she had adopted as hers a few years previously. Her parents did not mind her running off, though she had convinced them that she was simply visiting a hiding spot on the boarder of her given boundaries.
She wandered slowly through the trees, picking the petals off some flowers that she had picked, not a care in the world. At least until she heard the howls of the wolves not too far away. Her heart began to pound, her fast breath was visible on the cold air. She had forgotten the warnings from the more superstitious villagers. It was the one day of the year where a full moon could be seen during daylight. The day where the wolves were on the prowl.
